Vice-President Kashim Shettima has formally received Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri into the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring him the party’s leader in Adamawa State.

The high-profile reception, which was held at Mahmud Ribaɗu Square in Yola, attracted a large gathering of party stakeholders, governors, ministers, lawmakers and supporters from across the state and beyond, highlighting its political significance.
Speaking as Special Guest of Honour, Shettima described Fintiri’s defection as a major boost for the ruling party, noting it would strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections. He added that the move aligns with the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In his remarks, Fintiri expressed gratitude to the vice-president and party leaders for the warm reception, while thanking the people of Adamawa for their continued support. He pledged to sustain good governance until the end of his tenure on May 29, 2027, and urged citizens to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid, describing it as vital for national development.
Goodwill messages were delivered by key figures, including Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, both of whom welcomed Fintiri into the party.
